Young Nick , Breeana and Flat Shea spot land
Young Nicks Head (the cliffs) was named after Ship’s boy Nicholas Young who was the youngest person aboard Captain Cooks ship. Young Nicks Head was named in his honour for being the first aboard the Endeavour (Captain Cooks ship) to spot land. It was 127 years since Abel Tasman’s Dutch East India Company expedition made the first recorded European sighting of New Zealand.
What a beautiful beach! And interesting history!
