Flat Shea visits the Marae at Tologa Bay

A Marae is a traditional Maori meeting place.  A place for Maori communities to come together, remember their ancestors and it tells the history of the people who come from that community.

You can see the beautiful wooden carvings at the front of the Marae.  Each carving tells the story of the ancestors.  Inside the Marae you will also find many more carvings, weaving and pictures that tell the story of its people.

This Marae is  called Hauiti Marae in Uawa, Tolaga Bay.
